Bosque Escola Avelãs (BEA) is an educational project for children from 2 to 10 years (kindergarten and primary-school children). It is held predominantly outdoors, in plain nature. The education methodology emphasises respect for the curiosity of the children and the use of natural elements to learn. We combine learning with and in nature and respectful free play.
BEA mini (for children 2-6 years) takes place four days a week (Monday to Thursday), between 9am and 2pm. BEA maxi (for children 6-10 years) takes place every work day from 9am to 4pm.
The children are accompanied by qualified teachers who carry out a range of nature-based and other educational activities and supervise free play.
The lunch provided at Bosque Escola is vegetarian, sugar-free and as seasonal and ecological as possible.
We follow the school calendar of Portugal that is adopted by the municipality of Marvão, adapted to the pedagogical necessities of the project.
BEA is a community project, which is managed by Descalças Cooperativa Cultural and the families of the children frequenting BEA. Children who have attended/attend BEA are from many countries (United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, Italy, New Zealand, France, Germany, Austria etc.) so multiculturalism and multilingualism are some of our greatest assets. The languages spoken by the teachers are Portuguese, Spanish, and English.
