Bosque Escola Avelãs (BEA) is a forest kindergarten for children from 2 to 6 years. It is held exclusively outdoors, in plain nature. The education methodology emphasises on respect for the curiosity of the children and the use of natural elements to learn. Thus, we combine nature and respectful free play.
BEA takes place four days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday), between 9am and 2pm.
The children are accompanied by three qualified teachers, which carry out a range of playful educational activities and supervise free play.
Lunch is provided at Bosque Escola and is vegetarian, sugar-free and as seasonal and ecological as possible.
We follow the school calendar of Portugal that is adopted by the municipality of Marvão.
BEA is a community project, which is currently supported by 8 families with 9 children, and it has the capacity to accommodate up to 16 children. The children who attend BEA are from many countries (United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, Italy, New Zeland, France) so multiculturalism and multilingualism is one of our greatest assets. The languages spoken by the children are Portuguese, Spanish, English, German, and French.
