It is a forest school or pre-primary school for boys and girls between 3 and 6 years old that is developed outdoors in nature. The education methodology emphasizes respect for the curiosity of the children and the use of natural elements to learn. Thus, we combine nature and respectful free play.
At this time, it takes place from Monday to Friday, between 9am and 2pm. Some children have an extension of time (14h-16h30) coordinated directly by families in rotation.
We have two educators and a team of volunteers in charge of accompanying the children and supporting meals.
Each child has to bring a backpack with their mid-morning snack, water and clothing appropriate for the season. The food at Bosque Escola is vegetarian, sugar-free and as seasonal and ecological as possible.
We follow the school calendar of Portugal, adopted in the municipality of Marvão.
This is a community project. We are currently 10 families, and have the capacity to accommodate 16 children.
The children who attend the Forest School are from many countries (United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Italy, New Zeland) so multiculturalism and multilingualism is one of our richest. The languages spoken are Portuguese, Spanish and English.
