Bosque Escola Avelãs (BEA) is a community learning project located in Marvão, aimed at children aged 3 to 12 years old. It is a child-centred outdoor learning project, in a natural context and follows Forest School principles.

BEA was founded in 2017 by families from the community and is managed by Descalças – Cultural Cooperative – and the families who participate in it. The Bosque Escola Avelãs community consists of children, their families, carers, neighbours and the local community, as well as several people who voluntarily participate in this holistic vision of the project.

BEA takes place at Quinta das Avelãs, a space that combines the forest, in its natural, wild and free aspect; with the farm and the permaculture principles of caring for the land, caring for people and caring for the future. It promotes free play, flow learning and walking as guiding threads of discovery of nature and learning with an approach to the concepts of invisible school and nature as teacher.

This is a community project where all families are welcome, as are people who want to be part of the project by offering their time and knowledge. Contact us if you have any questions or to arrange a visit!
